Ten Years: The Illusion vs. The Record

October 30, 2025 will be

Ten Years. Weโ€™re told to trust โ€œthe systemโ€ and the people who run it. That trust keeps orderโ€”. Systems are like fire extinguishers: you donโ€™t know if they work until the room is burning. Too often, they donโ€™t. And by then, itโ€™s too late.
I still believe this: who you are determines the service you get. Walk with me through the recordโ€”one page at a timeโ€”and decide which standard was actually met.

What this post is (and isnโ€™t)

  • Is: A public walkโ€‘through of the record, graded against basic investigative standards and Arkansas lawโ€”standard measured against the record โ€”you judge for yourself.
  • Isnโ€™t: Legal advice or a full caseโ€‘file dump. Civilians are anonymized (F# / M#). Officials are named with roles.

Timeline (condensed)

  • Oct 30, 2015 โ€” 11:08:30 โ†’ 11:29:57: 911/CAD window for the initial calls โ€” called in as โ€œsome body shot them self.โ€
  • First on scene: Howard County deputies (Floyd, Boland) report the scene secured.
  • Primary case: Hempstead County handles the investigation/reporting; Howard County firstโ€‘responder information was not acquired by Hempstead (per first responders), and no HC supplements appear in the packet.
  • Door status conflict: Responders later stated the passenger door was unlocked; yet the driver window was broken for access. (We grade this in A2/A8.)
  • Oct 31โ€“Nov 2, 2015: Body release & autopsy routing; property/clothing released with body (ME #1068โ€‘15; page โ€œ11_03_2015โ€‘BODY RELEASEโ€).

Grade the Work (Top 6)

1) Witness Handling & Statement Integrity (A1)

Standard: Separate all witnesses; no crossโ€‘talk; independent statements in a controlled setting.

Record: Handwritten statements from F1โ€“F2โ€“M1โ€“M2 taken in a residence with the owner present; at least one person who was there that night was allowed to leave without giving a statement; and another person who was there earlier (not present at time of death) was allowed to sit with others while statements  were written, unsupervised (this is the witness account of how the statements were done). Questions the record must answer: Why werenโ€™t all persons present that night included in the witness pool? Why was one allowed to leave, and why was a nonโ€‘T0 attendee allowed to sit with the group during statement writing? Why it matters: Crossโ€‘talk contaminates memory; credibility drops before facts do.

Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

2) Scene Photography & Diagram (A3, C5)

Standard: Baseline โ†’ midโ€‘range โ†’ closeโ€‘up; scene diagram; scales/placards; orientation.

Record: 37 photos total; no scene diagram; no driverโ€‘side exterior overview; inconsistent orientation; no scales/placards visible. Breakout of the 37 photos (by subject):

  • 9 โ€” other vehicle referenced in statements (156977โ€“156985)
  • 8 โ€” Alec in truck
  • 1 โ€” Alec out of truck
  • 5 โ€” driver side interior with door open showing blood
  • 1 โ€” gun only
  • 10 โ€” outside of truck (mostly approach/pullโ€‘in; none show driverโ€‘side exterior)
  • 3 โ€” **hat only **Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

3) Interโ€‘Agency Documentation Gap (A12)

Standard: Firstโ€‘arriving agency supplements included. Record: Howard County first on scene, yet no Howard County supplement in the Hempstead packet. Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

4) Scene Security & Entry Control (A13)

Standard: Perimeter and entry log; authorizedโ€‘persons list; scene integrity until release.

Record: A person who was there left without giving a statement; others were allowed on site during statement writing; the truck was not secured and later sat in the yard unsecured. No perimeter/entry log provided.

Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

5) Vehicle Processing / Trajectory (A6)

Standard: Bloodstain pattern + trajectory mapping; interiorโ†”exterior correlation.

Record: Interior blood on driver door/seat/rocker; no BSPA/trajectory work documented.

  • Deputies Floyd and Boland stated the passenger door was found unlocked when they secured the scene.
  • Conflict recorded: This contradicts the stated reason for breaking the driver window to access the vehicle.
  • Root cause of ambiguity: The Hempstead case packet omits firstโ€‘responder (Howard County) supplements. Inclusion of those reports would likely resolve the doorโ€‘status conflict.

Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

6) Evidence Processing โ€” Hat & Firearm (A7, A4)

Standard: Preserve, document, and test clothing and firearm; clear round/mag accounting; maintain chain of custody. Record: Hat returned with body โ†’ later destroyed by funeral home without consultation; photo set shows no clear GSR/leadโ€‘wipe hallmarks on hat; chainโ€‘ofโ€‘custody for clothing is underโ€‘documented. Firearm: statements reference two rounds removed earlier; report lists Eโ€‘1 handgun and Eโ€‘5 two bullets but lacks explicit chamber/mag status at scene; trajectory/BSPA work absent. Status: Deficiency โ€” Fail.

Additional issues logged: round/mag accounting (A4); findings delivered by phone without durable record (A15).

Officials (Named)

  • Hempstead County: Reporting officer Luke Sorensen; Investigator Gary Dorman; Coroner Ben Brazzel.
  • Howard County: Deputies Timmy Floyd and Boland (first on scene).

Civilians anonymized as F# / M# and linked to statement IDs in the Master Pack.

What the Photos Donโ€™t Show (Preview of Next Post)

  • Missing driverโ€‘side exterior overview and scene diagram.
  • Gaps in baselineโ†’midโ†’close sequencing; no scales.
  • Insideโ€‘theโ€‘truck inspection issues weโ€™ll walk through: placement vs. staining on door/seat/rocker, and the absence of trajectory/BSPA to reconcile it.
  • Weโ€™ll also address what was told verbally later: trajectory described to me by phone, the remark about leftโ€‘handedness, and how my followโ€‘up with Investigator Dorman was shut down.
  • Next post will publish the audit table (including the 37โ€‘photo breakout) sideโ€‘byโ€‘side with standards.

Chain of Custody โ€” Clothing and other mandatory requirements (Upcoming)

  • Autopsy packet (ME #1068โ€‘15) documents property/clothing released with body; funeral home later destroyed clothing without consulting family.
  • Why it matters: loss of GSR/leadโ€‘wipe and bloodโ€‘pattern testing opportunities.

Records & How to Verify

  • Incident # SO15โ€‘2016 (Hempstead).
  • ME # 2015โ€‘024058 / MEโ€‘1068โ€‘15 (Autopsy packet).
  • 911/CAD window 11:08:30 โ†’ 11:29:57 (10/30/2015).
  • FOIA request template and record locators are posted in the Master Pack. We encourage readers to verify independently.

Closing

Grief stays. So does the obligation to be exact. Whatโ€™s missing here isnโ€™t dramaโ€”itโ€™s routine work. The gaps you seeโ€”witness handling, scene control, photo/diagram coverage, trajectory/BSPA, round & chamber status, and clothing custodyโ€”are the very steps that either verify statements or prove them wrong. Do the work and the answers follow; skip it and doubt is all that remains.

Next post: weโ€™ll walk through the inconsistencies the photos and reports donโ€™t resolveโ€”interior staining vs. trajectory, door/lock status, chamber/mag accounting, and the leftโ€‘handed/angle claimsโ€”each tied to document tags so you can check me.

Hold me to the facts. Hold them to their standards.
