Our systems are failing because we have no accountability. Community/Local, State and Federal. Maybe the problem is in the definition: obligation to bear the consequences for failure to perform as expected.
Accountability
Webster’s 1913 Dictionary
n. 1. The state of being accountable; liability to be called on to render an account; the obligation to bear the consequences for failure to perform as expected
here are no consequences. They lie to us and say there are systems, processes and procedures, but those in power have to be caught with irrefutable proof and it be for something that is currently taboo or there is enough social outrage.
After Alec’s death, there was an investigator that spoke to me as a person. I truly believe he was trying, but then he was told to not return my calls.
Over the vast amount of time, another investigator was assigned but he doesn’t return calls, doesn’t follow up, nothing.
I know a lot of people see my postings and see me as the problem. Ask me if I care about opinions?
Grief never ends. Time changes nothing. We find out that we can endure much more than we ever thought we could. Grief is tied to love and love is unending.
Life is too short to be quite and just take it when people fail to perform as expected.
Sometimes you shouldn’t rock the boat, you should capsize it.
See, I have a theory…. Several in fact, but I will share about the “investigation”.
Theory: That there was a failure to investigate the death of Alec because it was assumed to be a suicide and instead of taking responsibility for the mistakes, a stall and appease strategy was put into place so as to not admit that it was mishandled.
Support for this Theory:
- The call
- 911 call that “someone shot them self”
- Dispatch calls passing same
- Statements
- were completed without all parties giving statements
- Those that did were all together, unsupervised, with the property owner and others all together.
- Coroner
- FOIA request for forms that are required to be completed resulted in documents that have numerous errors and I believe were completed at the time of the request, not when they should have been.
- Physical evidence
- No explanation has been provided for any of the physical evidence
- No bullet in truck
- No bullet hole or blood from exit
- Blood spatter patterns
- Clothing condition
- Gun empty but not chamber open – verified that gun does chamber open ever time
- Not only these, but through FOIA request there is no evidence anything was ever done to verify or check any of these or any other physical evidence. NOTHING
- No explanation has been provided for any of the physical evidence
- From the files and documents it appears that the statements were the basis of all findings
- Mandatory Reporting
- All parties involved are mandatory reporters of the death of minor by gun shot to the ARKANSAS STATE POLICE
- No one reported this so that the ARKANSAS STATE POLICE procedures would be put into motion
- No repercussions for failing to report – misdemeanor and past statute of limitations
- Team not available at one point – was told they were sent to Florida death scene investigation training – have not been able to verify this happened
- Was told Alec’s case was being shared with Sevier County Sheriff Gentry – Email FOIA no answer to date. No evidence that this ever happened. Will be following up with Sevier County.
- Nothing for this being a repeat location (FOIA) concerning alcohol and minors
From my perspective, stall until we get tired and go away because no accountability.
I have had forensic knowledgeable people review the evidence and they agree that the inconsistencies found warrant analysis. What you see on TV about the concerned investigator that took the cold case file and reviewed the evidence is fiction.
I pray that others don’t go through what we have. The loss of someone you love is hard enough, asking for answers isn’t expecting too much. If it isn’t required, then the laws need to be changed so that it is. We need a forum to hold our public servants accountable to an expected standard.
If we have mandatory reporting in place to protect in situations like this, then they should be followed and penalties need to be increased against those that fail to perform their mandatory duties.
Some of us that see the possibility of conspiracy is because we have experienced the truth of how our “system” really works.
